blanking lads…

The Irish are an ethnic group within the general classification of people of European descent - just like the Scandinavians, the Slavs, the Germans, the French, the Spanish, and so on. The Irish have their own heritage, just like the other groups. Maybe the Irish identify themselves more as a separate group because they have their differences with England.

Yes. But each nationality has its unique ancestral roots. I think because the Irish were forced to speak English, and it’s the main language now, that maybe people get confused and lump Irish/English/Scottish/Welsh together. They’re distinct. The Irish are of Celtic origin, just like much of Europe, and they were conquered by the Vikings who actually assimilated into Irish culture themselves (and added the red hair and freckles) But the Irish differ in that the Romans didn’t settle there (until the British) and there were the Moors who came across Africa, through Spain and into Ireland. The Irish language, I’ve read, Gaelic, has Eastern European roots, which again is different from English. Anyway, I used to be obsessed with Ireland. I haven’t studied in awhile. :four_leaf_clover:

My Irish DNA seems to leave me very vulnerable to sunburn and skin cancer.

You got the Viking/Irish  I’m of dark Irish descent. Dark hair, eyes, and more olive skin…and freckles too.

The doctor where I live told me that most modern caucasions are mostly Celtic in their genetic make up. He said there weren’t enough of the Germanic tribes to change the gene pool very much. I don’t know if that is true. That is just what he said. There are always differing accounts of history.
