Are sz emergency cards a good idea?

On reddit someone was talking about emergency cards for sz .

Do you think the cards are a good idea ? Even tho they are very cheap,
I don’t believe I would want one, would you ?

If I was with it enough to give someone a card telling them I was schizophrenic, I probably wouldn’t need it. And if I wasn’t, what good is it going to do? A medical alert bracelet would be more useful.

I would have needed that during my relapse. Emergency rooms are pretty useless if you are psychotic as they don’t have time to figure out what’s wrong with you. I tried to ask if myself but ended up walking out in few minutes after admittance.

@Ninjastar On the card above it lists “mania” as a symptom of sz.
Is mania a common symptom of sz or is it probably schizoaffective ?
Or do they differentiate between the two anymore?

Thanks (in advance)

Iv been through so much chaos without telling a soul

Mania and depression are typically symptoms of either bipolar or schizoaffective disorder. They aren’t common in schizophrenia. If you get mania or depression, you probably won’t keep a diagnosis of schizophrenia.

Just like @LED said, I think a medical alert bracelet is much better.

I bought one, just in case. Seems like a good idea.

I might get a Medicalert necklace at some point too.

I don’t have a card nor do I think I’d use one but I do have a medical alert bracelet. It’s an MyID one so it’s electronic and linked to an app. I have all my important information in there regarding my sza, medications as well as my blood type and past head injuries
