I got t bones on the drivers side two weeks ago and just got a new car two days ago and on my way to work just now a van almost tboned me in the same spot. I luckily swerved out of the way but it gave me the biggest flashback
These fears are common after a car accident. My best advice is to keep driving, and let your confidence/security rebuild over time.
I’ll go with door number 2, Monty : terrible drivers. I’m sure they arent out to get you.
About 2 weeks ago I was watching this guy swerve in and out of his lane when we were driving somewhere. Guy almost turned the wrong way on a one way, then turned later turned on a green light when he was supposed to let oncoming traffic go first.
Don’t know if he was drunk , on the phone or just a terrible driver, but he was an accident waiting to happen. Luckily , most of the people around him were better drivers and helped prevent his driving from causing an accident. While we were with him, anyway.
There are lots of terrible drivers out there.
It’s honestly so terrifying. You could do everything right and still could get killed because of a reckless driver. Or in my case a 15 year old child . I don’t know what that driver of the van was thinking, it was a 25 mph zone and maybe they thought I was going faster and they could turn in behind me but they didn’t seem to make an effort to stop
A lot of people are really crappy drivers and should have their licenses permanently removed. You would not believe the horrible driver abstracts I see day after day at work. You can’t go wrong by driving like everyone is out to get you, because in a sense they are.
I run rude drivers over on purpose just to teach them a lesson. Everyone needs to be nicer out on the road. A lot of a holes who don’t know how to drive out there.
But on a personal note I’m glad you are okay. When our car was totaled due to a drunk driver, it hurt us all for months. Everytime I drive to the intersection where it happened I think about it and it’s been 3 years. Give yourself time.
Dang sorry to hear that. Maybe it’s just a dangerous stretch of road.
You’re so lucky it wasn’t worse. The car was in a right state
What do you mean?
I drive defensively as ■■■■. Got ran off the road the other day. Had to hop a curb and swerve in between to poles into a parking lot. First time I’ve ever been run off the road. Drivers around here are terrible. When I go out I usually come up with a plan or make sure I know where I’m going so I don’t have to in the moment figure out what to do. I try to be predictable as well so other people can understand what I’m doing.
I’m glad you were able to get a new car, so soon. ![]()

Same. There are so many aggressive and just plain bad drivers here in California. ![]()
me too. and i will speed way over the speed limit just to get away from other cars. i will drive fast and pass everyone to get to a cleared section where there is mostly no one around me.
Interesting! I’ve never heard that expression
I drive slow because my reaction time is bad.
