Whenever I take a nap, I have a nightmare.
It is awful.
Today, I saw in my dream that someone’s daughter cries out with a death of her father.
It was a unpleasant dream.
It even doesn’t give any catharsis because I’m scared.
I think the medications influence my dreams. Sometimes I got real intense dreams. I always wake up when I get killed in my dreams.
That must be hard for you. When I have a long-lasting sleep from 12-8, I don’t dream at all. So I don’t need to worry about having nightmares. But when I take a short nap or something, it is always a nightmare. So I thought about maybe this is because of meds …because it always does.
I think they are different stages of sleep. You go through a sleep cycle. You can Google dream meanings.
Here’s a trick: if you avoid sleeping with your hands on your chest you won’t have nightmares, I’ve noticed that the few times I had nightmares I woke up with my hands pressing my chest, I avoid doing that and I hardly ever have nightmares. The reason is because while sleeping and pressing your chest your body takes it as a threat and therefore you have bad dreams.
My nightmares came when I was taking Seroquel. Now I’m on Invega and I don’t get them anymore. So yes, for me it was the med I was on.
I got nightmares at times during psychotic or pre-psychotic times. Also starting up or withdrawing from meds at times gives me nightmares. During the change from haldol to zyprexa I had lots of them.
