Are antidepressants useful for schizophrenia?

I see so many on here prescribed antidepressants. I was wondering how it affects your psychosis and what way it’s useful?

I can never take an antidepressant ever again as I have strong bipolar tendencies

But if you have schizophrenia without mania then it might be a good option

I have sza bipolar type and ive been on a few different antidepressants. None of them did anything. Waste of time. Exercise and healthy eating and trying to socialise etc are a million times more effective for me.

I have schizoaffective disorder bipolar type.

I never had mania, but I think I had hypomania before. I mainly suffer from depression because of my schizophrenia disorder.

I’ve been on anti-depressants for 12-13 years so far. Mainly cymbalta most of that time. I hated some of the other ones. I liked cymbalta. I was on 120 mg a day…But I think Trintellix is better for me now.

On Trinellix, I have more stimulation and less ED. I noticed a little more anxiety when driving to the store.

I also feel less delusional and I can reject my irrational/delusional thoughts more often like me being a time traveler in a past life lol :alien:

In some ways I feel smarter now, but it’s only been a week or less.
