Arctic front locking us inside all week...even though it's payday

Our food stamps come in on the 1st but we won’t be able to go to the grocery store until the 3rd of february…this is going to make us scramble to find food for a week…we have canned goods galore so we will be ok…pasta and cheese too…so we will be ok…it’s just unfortunate that we have to wait an extra two days before we get to go. drip your faucets ppl.

It took me 2 hours to make a 45 min drive to the city. Highways completely iced and wrecks everywhere. Took me three months to get this scan booked and I can’t miss it.

Why can’t you go?

freezing rain and sleet for four days…can’t risk wrecking the car.

Made it back. Skated past two different wrecks that happened around us. One was an SUV and the other a jacked 4x4 pickup. There are idiots who don’t get that they might accelerate better with AWD, but their steering and braking aren’t any better on ice, which was everywhere. SLOW THE HECK DOWN.

Stay safe. My dad is seriously stressing me to find a good deal on a new furnace. ours is going on 25 years old. It is 28 degrees outside.

As of Monday it will be back to 8°C or 46°F. No more freezing temperatures at night!

You aren’t that far from me. We don’t have any freezing weather coming up. It’s in the 70s most of next week.

I hope it’s not as bad as forecast and you get to the store.

I get paid on the first also. So supposed to be Wednesday I think. But my bank gives me my direct deposits two days early so I will get them tomorrow.

Good luck. :four_leaf_clover:

Ah, your title and post didn’t mention that. I assumed just cold.

I would imagine that wouldn’t be possible until like, May at the earliest. I don’t see any furnace salesmen discounting their product in the middle of winter.

Probably why my slumlord hasn’t fixed ours even though we like, almost died.

I hope you guys can take him to the legal cleaners. Would be cool if he got fined the cost of the house and had to just hand it over to you.

Ha! Wouldn’t that be cool? Tbh, I wouldn’t want this house except for free.

Crappy part is, thanks to tax changes, my return isn’t enough to move. I’m getting 1/3 of previous years. Blah.

I know, but we always have to get at least three free estimates or more. Sometimes it saves a lot. Our first estimate is from 6000 dollars to over 8000 dollars depending on the model. This seems way to high, but it also could be because we waited until the middle of winter.

I highly recommend wood or pellet heat, if you are in an area where it’s legal. Pellet is likely to be legal where regular wood isn’t.

Ours was 8k, but it broke in the middle of a blizzard so we were not in a place to negotiate. I agree with the wood pellet heating, as long as you can lift the pellets.

One TV weather program says it will be above freezing Tuesday evening while another says snow/ice, so I’m waiting to see. I can handle my finances online. I have enough food to eat too, though not a whole lot.
