That AP’s shrink the brain comes as no surprise to me. APs make you feel less. If you are feeling less it makes sense that there are areas of the brain that are not used, so they shrink. That’s just my theory.
They don’t have to. You can push back against the side-effects.
How? 1515151515
I think there is a study on monkeys with olanzapine that showed grey matter loss.
Keep busy. Have hobbies. Read. Write. Exercise. Interact with people (church, volunteer work, etc.)
But it was 2 x max dose I think.
Well all that is great but if APs block dopamine you are still not feeling as much as you could.
One pdoc actually wanted to prescribe me that. I refused.
@Headspark was I guess. What say man?
That’s also why I learned to function on fewer meds.
I’m switching meds at the moment. The hope is maybe that I’ll feel a bit more, and become more present. More awake.
Yes, the medication blocks my well being. Quality of life from the inside (deep in your brain) out. I can’t cope anymore being controlled and obedient to political, theological or philosophical mechanisms. I need to break out for a little while to feel my normal self.
Can you cope with your positive symptoms without meds?
That’s always the hope with meds. I’ve yet to see people have the transformative experience they’re hoping for with a new medication and that’s over several decades.
Well I’ve heard some people switching to the med I’m switching to (latuda) and said they’re not a zombie anymore. I’m hoping for a change. Even just a small change would be good. Often the change you need is in the subtleties, lol.
Yes i can, i came home several times from hospital to meet positive symptoms of sobering experiences like i am a really a piece of s(h)it left behind the tree worth of less.
