I might need an antipsychotic for the rest of my life not just because both of my psychiatrists told me I do but because I don’t know if I’ll ever fully recover from schizophrenia.
I also feel like I’ll need an AP for life.
I’m in the same club. Been sz for 11½ years now. I don’t see any improvement. Voices and negs are still there.
It’s not so bad though. Meds take away the worst of this illness.
I don’t need to take responsibility for any children, I don’t need to face the demands of a relationship and I don’t need to work.
I can devote myself to a hobby, I can play video games and watch movies.
Besides, people are losing jobs, their spouses are cheating and children just want the latest iphones and cost hell a lot of money.
Same here on antipsychotics for the rest of my life.
That’s why it is important to choose one with minimal side effects
AP 4 Lyfe hams.
My pdoc is in the process of helping me get off one, but I’m still on Abilify. We also have a backup plan in case I can’t handle being off the one. I’m a lifer on blood thinners, but I guess we’ll see on APs.
I have several other meds I need for life. It is what it is. I just take them and get on with my day.
Here in the UK the policy is only to take one antipsychotic.
