Anyone that’s autistic here?

I don’t mean Asperger’s

Although I was dxed with Asperger’s it’s not pure Asperger’s. My social communication was rated at classical autism level and social interaction at Asperger’s level. When that happens you’re given the Asperger’s dx.

Yes they told me not Asperger’s but classical

Why do you ask?

Need advice how to live alone

I have lived alone for 6 years now

It was hard the first 6 months, and I was hospitalised a few times in that time period

But once I got over the initial problems adjusting to it, I would never look back

My home is my sanctuary from the world, and now I don’t mind so much being alone

That said I am looking for a partner, however I am not sure whether it would take a further 6 months of adjustment to get used to having someone else here

I got a dog in December, and he has given me structure in taking him for walks, as well as company

Asperger’s is no longer an official diagnosis. It’s Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Those of us who were Aspies are now at the high-functioning end of the ASD spectrum.

There’s a strong case for my being autistic. The condition clearly runs in my family and various mental health professionals have noted signs of it in me. No official diagnosis yet but hoping to be assessed ASAP.

I think that I may have asd

I suspect I have autism, but not sure what type. Probably Aspergers, sorry. Or PDD NOS. Psychiatrists are going in all directions on this. Some think I’m absolutely autistic. Some think I’m absolutely not. Some start with absolutely not and then change their mind when they get to know me a bit more.

Might also be that I didn’t really learn the same social and emotional skills as others when growing up, because my family was a little messy (and autistic :)).

i have classical autism. and living alone is impossible for me. But i don’t know if that is mostly because of the ASD or the SZ.

Maybe it’s just me, and others may think differently, but I don’t see myself as being at the ‘high functioning’ end- never had paid job/have had almost no friends IRL/get a fair amount of support/ to the extent my (s)daughter did a carer’s assessment so she gets support if needed.

You would still be considered at the high functioning end, sir.

How do you know?

How does who know what? It helps if you quote the person you are replying to.

I was diagnosed as high functioning autistic by one doctor and asperger’s syndrome by another, they are basically the same.

I thought I was autistic but then childhood sz matches all my symptoms better.

You know that he’s high functioning

If this is anything like your last autism thread it will descend into an ASD dick measuring contest

I hear that stuff washes on Twitter

I don’t think the level matters.
