I know I have some form of it, but I don’t know what level. Apparently they don’t tell you levels in the uk. Was this true for you?
For me it’s not true.
All they said to me that I wouldn’t have been diagnosed with Asperger’s but classical
Think they had dropped those terms officially but that’s what the guy said
I’m a level 2 15characters
I was never given a level. They were still using Asperger’s as a dx when I was assessed. This is how you were given a dx.
Social communication and social interaction at classical autism level= classical autism
One at classical autism level,One at Asperger’s level= Asperger’s
Both at Asperger’s level= Asperger’s
I was at classical autism level for social communication , and Asperger’s level for social interaction. My adaptive functioning is quite far behind what would reasonably be expected given my level of intelligence. That’s quite common, but not universal, when it comes to ASD.
Adaptive functioning refers to the practical, everyday skills needed to live independently and meet the social demands of life. For individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), adaptive functioning can be challenging due to difficulties in areas like communication, social interactions, and repetitive behaviors. These skills include:
- Communication Skills: Understanding and using language effectively, both verbally and non-verbally.
- Social Skills: Interacting with others, understanding social cues, and forming relationships.
- Daily Living Skills: Managing personal care, household tasks, and maintaining routines.
- Functional Academics: Applying academic skills in real-life situations, such as budgeting and time management.
Deficits in adaptive functioning can vary widely among individuals with ASD, impacting their ability to navigate day-to-day life successfully.
I’m definitely not level 3 nor am I a very high functioning level 1 autistic person. I get quite a lot of support but whether that’s the same as ‘substantial’ support is more a matter of subjectivity rather than objectivity . My daughter has had a social services carer’s assessment, so is officially regarded as a carer.
I would very loosely describe myself as being somewhere within the ‘vast middle’ when it comes to the ASD. Without support I’d struggle to maintain a healthy level of independent living.
A forum such as this plays to my strengths, and can give a false impression as to how well I do when it comes to daily living.
I’m a level 12 paladin and I cast healing on you all! Also, tanglefoot, because I dont want you all going anywhere ![]()
You’re probably high functioning or what they used to call Aspergers, @Ish. I’m 99% sure of this since you are employable.
I was diagnosed with Asperger’s after my psychotic break from pot but before schizophrenia. They said I had schizophrenia and not Asperger’s later on. It kind of confused me for a bit.
