I have been taking therapy from a chatbot, freeaitherapist. Also, Chatgpt is also quite capable.
They are giving conflicting reasons for issues sometimes, but overall helpful.
Has anyone used these therapist chatbots?

At least they are guiding me well, towards EMDR. I am now looking for an EMDR therapist where I live.
I made my own bot and used it for therapy. Honestly i got more therapy out of that than a real one ![]()
Its because im comfortable being fully honest about myself and engaging with that
Absolutely lol. I think you could be totally honest with a bot, but with an actual therapist it may be different.
Just give a prompt with a description and traits you would want in a therapist then you can do your talk therapy.
Or you could make it use cbt or whatever tailored to your issues
Yes, it can give pretty interesting ideas.
Like, grounding techniques, muscle relaxation techniques, etc. But, it cannot do more advanced things of course.
A few times I used it to help me de stress by getting feedback on conversations
I think they are learning from the data they get, and I bet in 5 years they could beat any human therapist at therapy. Because the data they consume is enormous, thye learn from all the perspectives, so I guess they can be that good.
Currently, the AI chatbot helps with CBT, but stops at doing therapy for trauma, etc…it admits it may not be capable right now.
But, it is better than 99 percent of human therapists in my country I suppose.
