Anyone successfully come off antidepressants?

I’ve been in a really good place for a long time now and I’m wondering if I should start lowering my less necessary meds. Last time I was in the emergency room they told me I was on too many pysch meds. I’ve gone on and off ssri’s successfully a couple of times over my life. I just worry because I had constant suicidal thoughts when I went back on them last december

No, tried 2 Times by myself though.

Yes, over an extended period of time. I’m feeling so much better taking my meds though, they really help stabilize me.

I was on zoloft and then eventually didnt need them. I embraced my ability to be hypomanic or feel reality as a better self maintenance trait rather than an illness pathology. In other words, i chose not ti feel numb and just accept my natural ability to feel. It was possible being off zoloft for good.

Keep in touch with your pdoc or case manager. If things start to go bad know who to call. The only antidepressant that I get depressed when I come off it is Wellbutrin. I usually go through a tough time when that happens.

Yes. I quit efexor and zoloft. Especially the efexor was a hellish withdrawal, also because they said there werent withdrawals and no need to slowly taper, but i managed. Im happy im off, and i can deal with mood issues naturally. You too can do it!

I tried a couple or three of those SSRIs. The cessation syndrome was horrible. But I got through.

After all these years, I’m with a new provider again. I came with a cocktail that was working great, but she wants to lower some of my meds for the sake of my liver. Not that my liver tests show anything to worry about.

I’ve been on and off cymbalta several times with no issue.

No. I’ve tried to come off my antidepressants in the past and i would always, eventually after a couple of months or so, become suicidally depressed again. I like my Effexor, it works well for me.
