I went to Walmart today after I saw my new Case Manager and therapist.
I’ve been there before but a long time ago.
I was really pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices.
I bought a bunch of stuff for myself like a new Hoodie and a journal.
I also bought some food items like Lean Cuisine (@jukebox) at really reasonable prices.
I think that I will go again maybe weekly to do some grocery shopping.
The store is not too far from my house.
Anyone else shop at Walmart?
It’s got a good variety of different items with low prices.
Occasionally we go to Walmart. My brother has worked for Walmart for over 15 years, he hates it there and has tried getting work elsewhere but hasn’t been successful.
It’s a good place to find just about anything. Ours even has an arts & crafts section where mom and I can buy fabric and other stuff for our sewing projects, but you really have to know what you want because the sales people aren’t really helpful at all. I like to look at what movies or TV series they have on hand.
The only annoying thing their the section isn’t really organized so you have to walk through the whole thing to find what you’re after, if they even have it. I also get annoyed because they carry mostly blue-ray movies and I don’t have a blue-ray player. I should probably break out and buy one but I don’t really care to.
Also I like to get my snacks at Walmart if possible because they have a huge grocery area and they carry large size packages than the grocery store. Like I can find a big family size bag at Walmart vs two smaller bags at the grocery store.
Amazon.com is still my favorite and first go-to shopping area though. I only go to Walmart if I just want to pick it up that same day…and not wait for shipping.
Be prepared for a lot of walking, most walmart stores are huge because the vast majority of things they sell. The grocery part is usually on the right of the doors, the entertainment is located in the back and the close usually take the center. Cosmetics are usually on the right of the store, and so are school supplies (unless they have it stocked up front for back-to-school season. Automotive furniture/bedding I tend to find on left hand side of the store.
Yeah I like Walmart. There is one next to me to in a walking distance.
I buy lotsa things from there - sometimes groceries, and a lot of house items too. I bought my office lamp and a mirror shaped like an arrow
I’ve shopped at walmart plenty of times. People seem to hate it but I like their prices. Apparently though their produce sucks. At least the one near my house. The fruits and vegetables seem about to rot.
Only at Walmart can you pick up a box of diapers, a basketball and a chainsaw in the same trip!
My wife does all of our staple groceries there…paper towels, toothpaste, cookies, etc. you name it. Their product line is called ‘Great Value’ and most of their stuff is quite good at a decent price.
Like I said, my brother’s worked for Walmart for over 15 years, at one point he was out remolding older stores across the country, so I’m pretty sure that is the typical layout. Though you may find one or two odd-balls out there. Typically speaking all the local grocery store chain all Shnucks have the same layout except this one in the neighboring county the store goes from left to right rather than right to left…so yeah you will probably come across one that doesn’t fit the mold…
I hardly ever go to Walmart anymore. I have always preferred Meijer, which is a Walmart-like store we have in my part of the Midwest. We have Walmart, too, of course, but I just like Meijer better. Better deals, better grocery section. It’s where I buy pretty much all of my groceries.
We shop at walmart for only a few select items. I prefer to spend my money on the local mom and pop type grocery stores- even if they are a little higher priced, because I want them to stay in business.
Cut to 20 years from now, walmart being the only store in town after running all the little competition out of business.
What do you think your going to be offered at the only shop in town?
Cheapest ‘made in China’ products walmart could get by the pallet/cargo shipments, which is all your selection on the shelf will be based on. That means what they want, not what brands you want.
and the best part,
you’ll be paying whatever price they demand,
because they’ll be the only store in town.
Shop wisely, but keep in mind what store’s you want to stay in business, and spend some of your earnings there too.
I know walmart isn’t good to their employees but it saves me so much money shopping there I’m bound to them…went and bought groceries at walmart today. ice storm coming…had to stock up.
Nothing wrong with shopping wisely @jukebox, if it’s what you need then it’s all good. To those than can, just keep those prices low at walmart, make sure they have a bit of competition by keeping other store open too.
You’re a good man @jukebox, Keep your head high, I’m rooting for you! ((((((Hugs))))
