Anyone raised by a single/divorced/widowed mom or dad?

My divorced mom raised me. I never seen my dad until after I turned 18. Maybe someone could do it poll on this.

I guess then there’s some who were raised in an orphanage.

No I was just interested in whether you had the typical mom and dad together. I felt like an outcast in the 1960’s when I was a kid.

Well never met my dad but had 10 awful step dad’s… Imagine that

My mom and dad are still together, but I’m not sure how typical that is anymore.

The joy of my life was the TV show The Courtship of Eddy’s Father. It was about a dad who is a widower raising his son alone.

my parents divorced when i was 3
my mom remarried when i was 8
he was not a nice person
my dad stayed single we saw him on sundays

That’s not good. Sorry to hear that. My mom had a drinking problem but at least managed to hold on to her job.

I am adopted from Korea. I was in an orphanage, then in foster families, until adopted. I was adopted young though, when I was almost five. My birth mom had to hide me, so I lived in a closet for the first couple years of my life. Three of my other siblings were also adopted but we are all from different families. I think of my birth parents often, but I think of my adopted parents as my true parents.

My parents divorced when I was still a baby. Then my mom married my awful stepfather.

But my mom raised me as a single parent most of my childhood.

My mother dumped me off to my great grandparents as a baby. My “father” left her when I was 5, day after Christmas 1980. I use quotation marks because it turned out he wasn’t my bio-father, my mom just used being pregnant as a way to trap him.

Anyway, I had a mother figure and a father figure in my great grandparents.

Thanks @Montezuma. Two have mentioned bad stepparents. My mom’s boyfriend has a stepdad but I never heard too much about him.

Thanks @anon4362788 Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but at least you had great grandparents. My maternal grandma did a lot for me too. My grandpa was always working OT so I didn’t see him as much.
