Anyone here has experiences with Brintellix (vortioxetine). I recently made a med switch and I’m kinda anxious because I was so happy with the previous antidepressant. Switched due to SD.
Hey what is SD?
Yes I was on Trintelix for maybe 5-6 weeks
It was pretty good for depression but my pdoc later determined I was OCD. This med was not the SSRI of choice at that point , so he had me switch to Zoloft
Sexual dysfunction. Heard this med does not have this side effect
I have been on 10mg September 2022 to February 2023 and 20mg from February 2023 to present
It has worked very well for me!
Not taking it for depression, taking it for anxiety
However I would say I have been the most stable minded and less anxious that I can remember
Since January I have been taking it with Clozapine
But I was able to quit Diazepam and Pregabalin together in July this year, and it has worked great
Was on Diazepam since 2016 and Pregabalin since 2018 - although we reduced the Diazepam a fait bit before… Opposite for Pregabalin as that kept creeping up
My review of it would give it a 9/10… Not 10/10 as nothing is that good
I had SD on Fluoxetine
It’s great it has also an anxiolytic effect, I need that as well. I was also on Fluoxetine which worked great apart from the SD. Today I had my first 10mg dose of Brintellix, been on 5mg for about a week.
Good luck!
It takes a while to work at first, but hopefully once your body gets used to it, you’ll have a decent benefit.
Let us know how you get on
How long did it take for your anxiety to improve? How is it with insomnia, does it cause this?
I myself do not have issues with insomnia yet I have just started taking it. My pdoc said it’s a new med mostly clear of side effects. You take it morning or noon.
It was about 6 weeks I think to notice improvement
Takes a bit longer than other medications
My sleep has never been better
For years I have had to take sleep meds
Might be more to do with the Clozapine, however this has not negatively impacted sleep thankfully
I’ve been on Vortioxitine since November last year. I don’t like anti depressants but my pdoc convinced me to try it. My mind feels more stable on it. It does nog help much for negative symptoms.
Thank you, this sounds really promising. Definitely something to enquire about!
