Hi.

I want to try it…i have been on vanalafaxine an ssnri…!!!
thanks…!!!
Yeah, I have also taken Venlafaxine. But I found that too tricky. Like if I was an hour or two late taking it, I would get zaps in my body and feel sick…otherwise a nice medicine too.
@sleepybug is on it. Maybe she can share her experiences.
I’ve been on Wellbutrin for a long time. I recently had them double my dose to the max. dose - 200 mg x 2 dalily. I don’t really notice much of an effect from it, until I don’t get it. Then I feel depressed.
I started Wellbutrin a couple weeks ago.
I notice
I tried Wellbutrin a few years ago and and it did absolutely nothing, I talked to my doctor about it and he let me in on a little secret- it doesn’t work!
I’ve been on Wellbutrin XL for a long time, and it works great for me. I take a lot, though, 450 mg/day. I’m no longer suicidal, really have very little trouble with depression anymore, though it has done nothing for me in terms of smoking cessation. Smoking cessation was never the point of a dr prescribing it to me, but supposedly it helps some people with that. Prozac was the first drug I was tried on, and that one did absolutely nothing. Zoloft made me terribly suicidal, and the others I’ve tried (Celexa, Lexapro, Effexor) all came with physical side effects. I’ve never suffered any side effects from Wellbutrin, though. Medications vary so much from person to person, though, as far as what will be effective for them and what will give them side effects.
Many years ago, Wellbutrin advertised itself as “The one antidepressant without sexual side effects.” Therefore, I tried it, and I’m happy with it.
Jayster
I was on 450mg a day for several years until I had a seizure then was taken off it. But otherwise it worked great.
yeah i take wellbutrin xr 300mg too
and i had a honeymoon with it when i didnt have racing thoughts and i was speaking more fluently
acctualy thanks to wellbutrin i found out i have problem with whats probably alogia
i mean i knew before that i sound stupid when speaking but i couldnt remember whats normal
anyway honeymoon is over and im back to the drawing board
I am thinking about asking for this tomorrow, as I have no motivation.
I read a study which says it does nothing for negative sx.
Are you no longer speaking fluently? Maybe you need to up your dose?
I’m on it, don’t notice too much of an effect, but when I first started it I think it gave me more motivation and helped me not stay in bed as much.
i will try higher dose but not yet
because ive read somewhere that if you do have that honeymoon it means it will work for you but like all reuptake inhbitors you have to wait few weaks
and no im not speaking fluently and calmly anymore
its like i gained control of my thoughts for a few days but its all gone now
I tried it a couple of years ago. At first I was on generic Wellbutrin XL 150mg for about a month, and it was great. A lot of my negative symptoms disappeared. Then after about a month it stopped working, so I went up to 300mg a day. I had great results for another month, and then it quit working again. I read online that there is a big difference between generic and brand. Anyone on it, or thinking about getting on it, should google generic vs brand. I found a pharmacy that had a program for $50 a month for brand and I wanted to try brand name to see if there was a difference. I took brand name Wellbutrin 300mg XL for 3 days, and it was so powerful I went psychotic for a day or two. That was my experience with it.
Had no luck with it, supposed to help with smoking but never did, I was in depression then so that might have had something to do with it
My experience so far: My I generally had a good experience. It stopped my racing thoughts to some degree, and helped concentration. I don´t know how it affects psychosis generally, but I started getting some “ideas” back that I haven´t had for a while.
That could be because wellbutrin makes it difficult for me to get to sleep and wakes me up early. And I am supersensitive to sleep…lack of it makes me more paranoid, and it doesn´t take many days for that to happen. I rely on getting enough sleep to help me.
On the physical side of things, it has pushed my blood pressure up. I have measured it four times and each time it is too high, according to the p-doc. So if it too high in January, I have to stop. I have no problems with blood pressure otherwise, the p-doc says high blood pressure is a known side effect of this drug. I read up about it and it has something to do with the activation of the nor-adrenelin system, which in turn gives your heart a work-out…
I just had my pdoc take me off wellbutrin 200 x 2 daily. I got some brief bouts of pretty strong depression, but because I had some extra pills in my med tray to wean me off wellbutrin it wasn’t too bad. Now I’m completely off wellbutrin, and I feel fine. I had the doctor take me off wellbutrin because I thought the pills might cause anxiety and make me jittery. Now I’m just as jittery as I always have been, but I don’t have to worry about taking pills.
