Anyone here on Sertraline

I saw my psychiatrist today.

I am starting Sertraline and I am wondering if it helped you. I have had low mood. Feelings of hopeless motivation concentration focus etc and I’m hoping it helps with this.

I am starting on 50mg a day but I think my psychiatrist said I would be on 200mg a day.

I also decided I for now would stick with my paliperidone because I don’t want my psychosis to return and can’t change too many things at once even though I’m not very happy with it. Just give the anti depressant time to work first.

For this week I’m in respite and missing my dog.

50 mg does the charm for me. I tried raising it to 75 it was too much. But yeah I’m on Zoloft 50 and it’s good for me in a lot of ways

I used to be but my psydoc took me off. He says it causes fast cycling if you have bipolar and I was already a fast cycler.

So glad to hear it works for you. Need a bit of hope right now.

I have been diagnosed with bipolar in the past but as it stand right now my diagnosis is sz that I’m aware. However I doubt this and I would say myself that I am sza. I hope it does not cause any fast cycling or make me worse in anyway.

I’m sza with bipolar. If you have any mania you can cycle fast.

It didn’t make me feel bad at all. In fact, it worked to help make life livable and elevate my Outlook. Hope it works for you!

I take 50mg but haven’t noticed anything amazing from it.

How long have you been on 50mg ? Have you considered raising the dose? Apparently you can go up to 200mg. (I think that is what my psych said today) @PlateOfBiscuits

I’ve been on it about 3 months. I’m due to see my psychatrist on the 23rd of this month so I’m going to ask him about it then. Mind you, I’ve put on 7lbs since statring it which is weird because Abilify is weight neutral for me. I’m worried that taking a higher dose of sertraline might make me pack on the pounds. Citalopram did a few years ago.

I have this now. I hope it’s just a phase I’m going through. Best of luck with the new med. I’m afraid to go on any extra meds at the moment.

I’m dying of brain zaps and other detox symptoms from going off 200 mgs sertraline cold turkey. Unfortunately it made me a manic episode which I didn’t realize I was having that I naturally started self medicating. I wound up being hospitalized for a week and they had to figure out what happened and why I went off the rails. Anyway if you are sza bipolar type I would be very cautious. Pay close attention to any signs of increased anxiety or mania. I had plenty of warning signs I just didn’t have any insight. I’ll hopefully pay better attention next time.

I hope you improve @everhopeful I am also concerned about going on more medication. I am now on four medications. (Not all for sz)

I was on Sertraline 200mg for years. Until i got my diagnosis of Sz and said i didnt have clinical depression anymore. Hope it works out for you. It does cheer you up and make you feel more clearly - give it a couple of months to work properly tho. Best of luck mate. rog
