Curious if anyone is taking 2 mood stabilizers in place of taking an antipsychotic.
I want to try to convince my Pdoc to put me on another mood stabilizer instead of Abilify.
If anyone’s taking mood stabilizers, which is a good second one to add to my lithium?

I take 400 mgs of Seroquel at hour of sleep, and 300 mgs of Lamotrigine in divided doses.
I thought Abilify was a mood stabilizer. I know loads of the bipolar students I used to work with took Abilify.

I think Abilify is an antipsychotic that can be used as a mood stabilizer (as olanzapine).
To be fair, most of the bipolar kids were nonverbal, so they may have had psychotic symptoms that nobody ever knew about. Maybe the reason it calmed them down was because it took away their hallucinations. With nonverbal kids, the doctors just kind of make their best guess at what will help them.
I heard lamictal raises libido, is this true?

Abilify is an anti-psychotic, but since it re-balances dopamine and serotonin to improve thinking, mood and behavior it’s often prescribed for people with bipolar. This type of situation is called a medication being prescribed “off label.”
I take lithium and lamictal, both are mood stabilizers. They’re currently the only medications that I’m on.
