No. I went to the Canadian equivalent and I’m too high functioning - no one else wants me there because I’m a reminder of what others don’t have.
I USED to go to the NAMI Connections support group but stopped during the pandemic…right now I am attending a NAMI Peer-to-Peer class that meets for 2 months to learn ways to support others who also have MI. It’s a fun class.
I used to go to a NAMI support group with all different diagnoses. The other schizophrenics there said weird things. I guess it’s like prayer in AA: You don’t really get any tangible results except for the fact that if you do it consistently, just the fact you committed yourself and did something is an accomplishment.
I’m going to start volunteer work for NAMI in January. 2 days a week. Their help line
