Anyone else find this weird?

It was right near the end of the day at work. I was making good time mopping the cafeteria so I paused to just check out the internet for a second and I saw an ad for a pizza.

I was hungry and it crossed my mind to get a pizza after work, but then KFC sounded better. So it was right near my house and I stopped there and hit the drive thru.

I was looking at the whole menu. I realized that fast food is not the same as when I was young. It’s neither fast nor cheap anymore. Used to be in the seventies that when you go to McDonalds or Jack-in-the-Box and got a hamburger and fries you walked away feeling happy and like you got a good deal. I can’t think of any place now that I feel like that.

Anyways, I looked at the menu at KFC and the cheapest meal was like $6.00 for a couple pieces of chicken, a biscuit and medium drink. And I thought I might crave chicken more than I thought and looked at the list of buckets.

What caught my eye was that a big bucket of chicken started at like $30.00. I kept reading and another one was $40.00. Then I glanced and saw $50.00!

That’s half a hundred dollars for friggen chicken at a fast food joint! Who goes out for fast food and drops half a hundred dollars?
It strikes me as ludicrous. I guess the prices might be related to the COVID crisis.

Anyways, I ended up getting the four pieces of chicken, biscuit, small drink and mashed potatoes for $13.00. It used to be that cheap, fast food was an American nstitution. I guess that went out with the hula hoop and the Edsel.
