Anybody recovered from Abilify?

I stopped Abilify 8 months ago but still have sexual dysfunction.

Anybody recovered from Abilify? How long did it take?

I had zero symptoms for a long long time on abilify idk why it stopped working I wish I did one day i started shaking violently and felt like I had the incredible urge to walk I was up for days after it stopped working then I quit it and when they put me back on it the abilify did nothing

Abilify has worked fine for me. Zero positive symptoms, some weight gain, some impulsivity but it maybe due to my own genetic makeup and otherwise insomnia and erratic sleep patterns meaning sometimes sedated, other times hyper

That’s great it’s working for you guys I wish I could say the same. Any idea when I might recover?

you won’t recover, the best you can do it try to stay in remission

I don’t have schizophrenia or psychosis I meant recover from the Abilify’s symptoms

Huh this is a support group for people living with schizophrenia or psychosis

Yes I know which is why I figured people here would have experience with Abilify

It’ll be different for different people, it depends on your body. there should be information on google for averages

Why is there a reason why you take abilify

"Mild side effects that have been reported with adults taking Abilify include:

  • sexual side effects*
  • weight gain*
  • memory loss*
  • sleep-related side effects*
  • feeling sleepy†
  • anxiety
  • akathisia (feeling restless and unable to keep your legs still)
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • constipation
  • headache
  • dizziness
  • blurred vision

These side effects may be temporary, lasting a few days to weeks. But if the side effects last longer than that, bother you, or become severe, be sure to talk with your doctor or pharmacist."

Probably not going to get a better answer than that. If the side effects persist after 8 months, talk to your doctor.

Do you mean recover from SZ or sexual dysfunction? You won’t from the former and the other is a question only a doctor can answer.

I take abilify it has the least side effects (especially sexual)

With abilify I have recovered from schizophrenia.

That’s called remission, recovery would mean cured of. What you’ve written is medically misleading imo

Well if your doing to be pedantic about it go ahead.

I quit the Abilify injection and the side effects went away in few months

I’m not though? I’m saying it how it is - people rely on the info on these forums; misleading people is only gonna wreck their expectations or make them less med compliant. It’s more serious than “pedantic” :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It’s took about 9 -10 months for my sex drive to return to normal from abilify. It should return for you
