I am about to learn a new software for graphic design. Between Coreldraw and Illustrator I should choose one but don’t know which one is more suitable for me. My goal is to draw pictures for quilt cover and sheet. Does anybody have experiences in Coreldraw or Illustrator ? Which one is better for drawing?
The latter is a software product from Adobe, the same company selling Photoshop. CorelDraw existed since I was a college student. My sister uses Adobe Illustrator.
Thanks plumber for your kind reply. What does your sister use Illustrate for?
She was a graphics designer. Now she is a fashion designer. She also is a amateur photographer.
Hope that you can make the wise decision on which class to enroll.
If I were to choose one, I’d pick Illustrator. Adobe makes good software that’s in widespread use. I didn’t know they were still making Corel Draw.
What Malvok said. Corel Draw has become a fringe product that is not used at all in the graphics industry these days. Having Illustrator on your resume makes you employable, but having Corel Draw on there would make your knowledge look outdated and hurt your employment prospects. My own professional workflow is almost entirely comprised of Adobe products on the photographic and video side of things.
My 2 cents as a professional photographer who works with graphic designers regularly.

how about sculpting programs?? I’ve been trying to remember to try to learn how to computer sculpt…
Thanks guys for your thoughtful replies. I finally chose Illustrator to learn. The course starts on 20th of October. I have about four weeks to be a relaxed. It’s a good break from hectic school days.
