Any tips for anxiety at the work place?

I have horrible anxiety when it comes to work. Sometimes I feel like I’m going to die or be taken over and all my rights took away from me. I know to some extent some of these are dumb to be worried over but I genuinely hate feeling like this since I depend on work to get by. Any tips or coping skills I can use?

Does your anxiety/paranoia stem from your coworkers?

Yes sir it does and my boss. : (

I see, what I do, is just keep convincing myself everything is fine, and no one hates me. But I get that that’s easier said than done.

Like some affirming words, huh? I think I’m going to try that.

Like everytime I would have a seemingly negative social interaction, I would just say it was all in my head.

Ooo I have some of that vitamin I think. I’m definitely taking it with me as a prn along with my medication for anxiety.

It’s unfortunately not a cure all, as with all other supplements. But I think it helps at least a little. But making sure your medication is in order with your pdoc is the most important part.

Of course, with this illness its a day to day battle so I agree. I’m sure it does even a little more than what we think. Yes thankfully I have a good relationship with my p doc and we adjust them pretty frequently.

Also, I would consider talking to your employer. Different employers have different takes on mental health, mine fortunately is open minded about it. But there definitely is risk involved with disclosing your condition to your employer (so do it at your own discretion).

Thankfully my employer knows that I have a disability and grants me 5 minute breaks whenever I need them. She’s very nice to me. I guess I’m just really paranoid

Can you use sunglasses/headphones at work? It helped me a lot when I was working.

Keep a recovery journal. Write down about the dark days and how you got through them. It gives you confidence for the next set of dark days because you know if you made it once you can do it again.

Thank you that is very true. I’m thinking of using my diary as my recovery journal. Do you think that will work? Sorry I couldn’t reply they made me wait 6 hours until i could finally reply.

Use whatever works for you! Just make sure that it’s something you can refer to some time down the road. A lot of improvement is gradual with SZ. It happens so slowly you don’t notice at first. When you’re writing it down you’ll eventually realize that you’re doing 2 or 3 times what you used to, but you didn’t see it because it was spread out over half a year. It’s a real self-esteem booster.

Oh OK, perfect. Yeah I wrote it for the first time today, since this is something new I will put a remind in the phone to remind me. I’m glad I got this community to guide me in the right direction, so thank you!
