I first started having symptoms of SzA when I was 30. Are there any other men diagnosed late like me?
I started dealing with it at 30 as well. I feel shafted because I should have been in the clear due to my age.
I wasn’t diagnosed until like 42
I know the feeling, although I didn’t know much about it at the time.
Thanks Bowens. 15

If I remember correctly @everhopeful was diagnosed late.
I was diagnosed at 30. Started getting symptoms around 27.
Thanks Pat6398.
I’ve been thinking maybe the psychiatrist got it wrong because I was too old. Just the usual denial.
In hindsight I was symptomatic from a young age but just didn’t know better. Had a depressive break at 23 which I got out of smoking weed for years till it became a problem. Went psychotic at 29.
Thanks rogueone.
I wish my psychiatrists “got it wrong”. It would give me an excuse to try going off my meds. But I’m pretty sure, even at the age I was diagnosed, they got it right.
I’m pretty sure I had schizophrenic symptoms going on way before that but I didn’t really start going psychotic until like 40 and they finally diagnosed me at like 42.
Thanks Bowens. 15
I should know better. Last May when I switched to Abilify, I was hallucinating and really paranoid on 5mg. My pdoc upped it to 10mg, and I did better.
Honestly I can trace some prodromal behavior as far back as 25 if I’m being honest though. Voices and full psychosis didn’t hit until I was 30 and a half years old.
I had my first psychosis at 17, but they didn’t diagnose me with SZ until I was 25
Thanks agent101g.
