My cat, Umberto, just brought home a baby rabbit-still alive but barely. I don’t know what to do or who to call (if anyone). Maybe I’m making a bigger deal of this than it needs to be. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Is it still alive?
Maybe take it to the vet?
That’s what I would do.
Yes, but just barely. It’s not moving and breathing is labored. It looks injured. @FreeLunch
Maybe… I’m just stuck at the house with no car today and honestly I couldn’t afford a vet bill… I don’t know. @TheFountainPen
If it’s breathing is labor it may have interior injuries I would put it in a warm place and call the vet as soon as you can leave
Just give it to a vet. I once did that with birds i found.
(Vets are usually understanding)
I wish vets weren’t expensive. It would help a lot of animals.
Some people don’t even want to pay for putting their pet down when they are suffering.
This sounds horrible and I’m probably too late,
But I would kill the rabbit.
It’s not going to recover and is just in pain.
I shot a rabbit under the same conditions.
But it was my dog that got him.
Super sad, but there’s really nothing you can do for the poor thing.
Ouch. Sounds like the rabbit is a goner.
Ask the vet if you can drop it off but not pay for it
Is there a wildlife refuge or rehab in your area?
Sometimes they will take injured or lost wildlife and look after them before they release them back into the wild.
My comment may be too late. Is the rabbit still alive? I did some Google searching. I found this website for injured wildlife in the United States. I dunno where you live, but I hope this will help.
I’m with @Charles_Foster once again.
If the bunny is in very bad shape and it’s suffering, there’s not much you can do.
I would put it out of its state of suffering
Thank you, everyone, for your advice. Poor bunny didn’t make it. I’m glad he didn’t suffer too long.
