He is a indoor cat and has been missing for about 4 months. Someone found him and I got him back this evening.
He is in very poor health though. He is very thin, he damadged one of his legs and also has problem with balance, he could possibly have some sort of brain damadge.
The good news is he recognized me and my apartment and is relaxing. And he is eating ok.
I’m unsure what to do though. I think I will just nurture him for a while and then decide if I’m going to take him to the vet. I’m afraid if I don’t give him time to get better the vet will recommend to put him down, but I don’t want to do that.
He has been purring a bit after coming home, so he seems to be happy to be in a safe environment.
I’m glad they found him, he wouldn’t have survived for much longer, certainly not over the winter.
I will advocate to keep him a few days to get stronger. The thing is he is very scared of strangers and may have to be sedated to get looked on, but I’m not sure he’s strong enough to take the narcotics right now. Anyway I will discuss this with the vet.
It doesen’t look good. He has severe balance problems. Best case scenario is because of fatigue.
I just hate the idea of taking him to the vet and lose him just when I got him back. He still has a will to live, he’s hungry and he’s purring when he came home. This is a very difficult situation for me.
He’s resting now, and will rest tonight I imagine. Hoping he’s a little better tomorrow.
