Got my cat back

He is a indoor cat and has been missing for about 4 months. Someone found him and I got him back this evening.

He is in very poor health though. He is very thin, he damadged one of his legs and also has problem with balance, he could possibly have some sort of brain damadge.

The good news is he recognized me and my apartment and is relaxing. And he is eating ok.

I’m unsure what to do though. I think I will just nurture him for a while and then decide if I’m going to take him to the vet. I’m afraid if I don’t give him time to get better the vet will recommend to put him down, but I don’t want to do that.

He has been purring a bit after coming home, so he seems to be happy to be in a safe environment.

I’m glad they found him, he wouldn’t have survived for much longer, certainly not over the winter.

Take him to the vet dude…

I will if he doesen’t improve.

Maybe the vet could treat him now but not if you leave it. He could have an infection. I’d take him to the vet straight away.

I’ll call them tomorrow, explain, and ask for their opinion.

Yes, good plan.

I will advocate to keep him a few days to get stronger. The thing is he is very scared of strangers and may have to be sedated to get looked on, but I’m not sure he’s strong enough to take the narcotics right now. Anyway I will discuss this with the vet.

It doesen’t look good. He has severe balance problems. Best case scenario is because of fatigue.

I just hate the idea of taking him to the vet and lose him just when I got him back. He still has a will to live, he’s hungry and he’s purring when he came home. This is a very difficult situation for me.

He’s resting now, and will rest tonight I imagine. Hoping he’s a little better tomorrow.

I’m so sorry to hear that Mr. Hope.
Wishing the best for you and the cat

He will only get worse without treatment. Not better. He needs to see the vet ASAP. Seriously. ASAP!

Oh my goodness, what a difficult situation. HUGS

And you actually took the time to offer me support on my thread…you’re amazing.

I hope things work out for your cat. I would feel conflicted too in your shoes. Definitely put in a call to the vet just to see their advice.

I took him to the vet. He was very sick and they didn’t expect him to get better.

I said goodbye to him

Why what was ailing him?
What did the Vet say?

Did they see him in person?

I’m very sorry @Mr_Hope . That’s so sad :frowning:
