Anxiety is hell!

I’m extremely anxious!!! I honestly don’t know why!!! I’m using all my coping skills and grounding techniques but I just can’t calm down!

Are you dreading an anticipated event? In that case I’m with you!

My only suggestion is to take a bag out of the freezer and hold it on your face and breathe in and out slowly. Sometimes it helps.

I feel awful for you. Anxiety really is awful.

I actually am not anticipating anything… this is why I don’t understand why it’s happening

Yeah I’m sick of worring all the time.

Thanks for the tip I’ve never tried that before

Wikipedia was interesting to me on this ‘word’. It also says it’s an overreaction to a situation that is only subjectively menacing… can you identify anything in your life like that?

Ummm no not really… it also doesn’t help when you reach out for help to your mom and her only thought is to drop me off at a psych ward!

I get that random anxiety too. I use distraction. It doesn’t usually help but sometimes. Hope you feel better

I’m trying to distract myself with music and tv but it’s are to focus and stay still

I take Lexapro for it… and also am on Wellbutrin… what time is it by you? Are you amped up on caffeine?

11pm and no I have had caffeine since this morning

In the real world I feel a little surrounded by basically everyone… I know logically my old friends and acqaintances didn’t stay glued together… but still I feel like the captain in Titanic(1997) when he goes to the (Bridge?) and shuts the door behind him waiting for the glass to give.

Like I’m going to have a problem if I clunk into a rocking chair or something… like there’s potential energy and something could “give”. To put a fine point on it… I blame society for my mental anguish… and sometimes wonder if that’s not a big enough “pound of flesh” for them.

Seriously… as Coldplay sings: “nobody said it was supposed to be this hard”.

I just like drama historically… and movies used to fit that bill. Now I don’t watch them anymore because of sensory overload, I guess.

And I also like that video on YouTube that traces the First Mate(William Murdoch) again on Titanic(1997), (it’s not the worst of movies)… this video has that song “My Immortal” as the background and I guess it’s technically a montage. I think I discovered it from this site a long time ago.

Maybe what I’m saying is that I don’t want “elegance” stripped from me, I don’t want to be tricked out of it at the last second… maybe that’s why I keep coming back to “The World’s biggest metaphor”. Because there was THAT in the movie.

J. Bruce Ismay made mistakes but apparently all movies take a cartoonish view regarding him.

Maybe I can make this topic a hobby… I need more of that in my life. A lot of people are drawn to it(This topic).

I second the idea of holding something cold to your face. I used to cope with anxiety during my teen years by shoving a moldable ice pack down my shirt or holding it to my face at night. Now whenever I’m extremely anxious I just use my Klonopin as well as four square breathing techniques.

What’s the four square breathing techniques?

@Longhorn21 it’s very simple. You envision a box in your mind. With each breath in you count to four and think of one side of the box. Each breath out you count to four and envision the next side of the box. You kind of “breathe your way around” an imagined box or square while counting to four during each inhale or exhale. I found these techniques very helpful when I experience major anxiety.

Wow this is awesome! I’m really glad I reached out for help, this breathing technique and the ice bag really helps!
