I havent had anxiety on risperidone but since starting abilify I start having bouts of anxiety and panic that I have never felt before anyone else experience this on medication. Thinking of cancelling the switch if it doesnt improve.
I tried abilify for a while. I got akathesia really bad when first taking it but it left after a while. Never did pan out for me but I’d say depends on how long you’ve been on it. Side effects may be early but not so bad after a while but we are all so different…
Im hoping the side effects subside

The anxiety, agitation and lack of sleep made me very ill. I had to come off it

I dont have agitation or lack of sleep, just periods of numbing anxiety, but not sure if its because I am also on the 3mg of risperidone so effectively on a higher dose of antipsychotics. Perhaps lowering the risperidone will make a difference and upping the abilify but will have to see.
I hope it works out. Switching is a pain. I am on my 6th AP now

Thats a lot of AP’s to test out, I think theres only like six AP’s my medical aid covers so dont have that much options.

Yes, abilify is very activating. It gives you energy like coffee but at the same time makes psychiatric patients very anxious and sometimes paranoid(me).

I am on Abilify and when I switched to it it didn’t make me any more anxious than what is typical for me.
When I was on 2.5mg Abilify in addition to Risperidone I was so anxious, my pdoc added “near-psychotic syndrome” to the diagnosis
