I hate ignorant people who want to control schizophrenics. Some people think if a person simply has a delusion they should be hospitalized, or if a schizophrenic is continuing to hallucinate they should be hospitalized. If this were done, I would have been in a “hospital”/prison for the past 8 years straight. It is ridiculous. It is also very unrealistic. It is very costly to hospitalize just one person, and I read somewhere that for every 400 or so severely mentally ill people, there is only one hospital bed to put them in. Are they going to waste money putting my ass in a mental institute just because I think there is a spiritual component to this and that I continue to hear voices every day? Statistically 60% of schizophrenics continue to hallucinate regularly while on medication.
I am glad I live in California. It is harder to 5150 and they can’t force medicate you unless you have committed multiple violent felonies, nonetheless getting power of attorney.
The main reason I don’t like the concept of force medicating is you might get a screwy doctor who will drug you out of your mind with screwy medications.
I kind of agree with you, but for my own reasons. Hospitals are expensive that’s true. And they operate like low security prisons. I have been involuntarily commited and voluntarily commited. I regret both cases but it was interesting to have the mental hospital experience. Never again though.
What bothers me is how crazy non schizos are and how they’re allowed to remain that way.
Ive had sz for yrs and was aware of it for about past 12 yrs.
Since my awareness i’ve thought that Jason Vorhees has really given us a bad name then I see stuff like that dude in Florida last week that chopped his ma’s head off because she was siding with his brother in a arguement
