Well the article says they’re not sure of anything. But either way I’m in the clear with abilify according to this:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16928430/
RESULTS:
Clozapine, and to a lesser extent olanzapine and quetiapine showed dose-dependent increases in AA. At therapeutic doses, the AA (in pmol/mL of atropine equivalents) was estimated to range from 27-250, 1-15, and 0-5.4 pmol/mL for clozapine, olanzapine, and quetiapine, respectively. Aripiprazole, risperidone, and ziprasidone did not demonstrate AA at any of the concentrations studied.
Would have been nice if they listed some of the specific drugs they were concerned about. Makes me worried about my cogention
Yea that’s why I put a question mark in my title… And that’s one of the reasons I’ve remained on abilify too
Just what us schizophrenics need…increased risk for dementia.
They probably may do more studies on this to check for certain if it’s really the anticholinergic property of meds. I have read this before on Wikipedia too about anticholinergic properties of meds n dementia risk.
It makes me want to be more wary of following the lifestyle factors that reduce risk of dementia if I go on one of those meds
Well I’m definitely going to keep updated on it now. Thanks
Well this makes me uncomfortable.
I can imagine. I feel my memory was damaged by meds. Sometimes there is no other solution than to use meds though. Psychosis does damage too, in all areas of life.
Just to put things in perspective, the article says that if the link is true other lifestyle factors such as smoking still are of a bigger risk for dementia.
I didn’t mean to make people feel like ■■■■ sorry, but I thought it’s worth being aware and so that we feel more motivated to do things that lower our risk either way
Where did you read this?
It’s in this news article that I’ve posted right at the bottom of the subtitle 'what are the concerns? ’
Press ctrl f on the bbc article and it’ll take you there if you type it in.
I apologise guys thanks for clarifying @anon90843118 and @Jargon
What are you worrying about? We won’t live long enough for most of us to get dementia.
Lol oh the joy.
