Antidepressants make my positive symptoms worse, sometimes to thr brink of relapse. I suffer for major depression and have to choose to take or not to take antidepressants. I have made a decision not to take my lexapro due to worsening of my sz. Its unfair that I have to choose not to take AD’s even if i suffer drom depression also

There are different types of antidepressants. I have bipolar sza so I don’t do well on SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) like lexapro either because it can make my bipolar symptoms (mainly mania/hypomania) worse. I was on an NDRI (norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor) called Wellbutrin for a while for my depression but I did better on Vraylar since that’s for both sz and bipolar d/o. I don’t know how it would affect you personally, but I would talk to your prescriber and see what your options are. Hope that helps
