Just had a discussion with my friend who keeps promoting this new age trash. I told him that it is socially irresponsible to
promote such ideas if they are not followed by real scientific researches, otherwise it is nothing but falling for sensationalism and spreading panic.
I don’t care what you do in your own house, how you raise your kid, and do believe in bioenergetics and homeopathy, but save those personal beliefs for yourself!
Of course, as the result, those people will tell you that you are buying the ideology of big pharmacy and other conspiracy stuff…for me, those are the same kind of people who will tell you that ’ it is impossible to be depressed if you truly believe in God’ or that you are a bad parent if your kid isn’t able to change the lightbulb at the age of 8.
That is great.
Now, as we are always about 10-15 years behind you guys, the movement has only started to spread around and it is even more dangerous because it claims the stuff taken from the second or third hand ( of translation, interpretation, the USA context…)
I used to be one of those fringe nuts. I was an anti vaccination person. I learned my lesson the hard way. There’s so much internet propaganda against the mainstream, that if you feel marginalised to begin with, it’s easy to fall for it.
You know what my ex good friend told me? ( he has a PhD in journalism): if I get a doctors signature which will authorize and approve my right to sue him or the hospital if anything happens…then im down with it.
The one thing they can’t argue… mortality rates dropped when we started vaccinating…
If I ever have a kid in my life… adopted or other wise… I will vaccinate.
It’s interesting here in Seattle… They do track the schools with the lowest vaccination rate… mostly it’s the upper class/ privileged… private schools in gated communities.
The schools in the poorer parts of town and the International dist… are nearly 100% compliant.
I asked notmoses for some studies that prove against the whole vaccine =autism agenda…waiting for him to get up and send it, then I’m striking the discussion full force.
I think a solid argument against anti-vaxxers would be even IF vaccines cause autism, wouldn’t autism be preferable to a dead kid from a nasty disease? The anti-vaxxer movement is stupid. I think anyone who does not vaccinate their kid because “they’ll develop autism” should have their child taken away. A disease-ridden child is tantamount to neglect.
I don’t get this… why would anyone be against Bill Gates efforts at saving lives in Africa, and helping people improve their lives?
Very strange…
"Vaccines save millions of lives each year and are among the most cost-effective health interventions ever developed. Immunization has led to the eradication of smallpox, a 74 percent reduction in childhood deaths from measles over the past decade, and the near-eradication of polio.
Despite these great strides, there remains an urgent need to reach all children with life-saving vaccines. One in five children worldwide are not fully protected with even the most basic vaccines. As a result, an estimated 1.5 million children die each year—one every 20 seconds—from vaccine-preventable diseases such as diarrhea and pneumonia. Tens of thousands of other children suffer from severe or permanently disabling illnesses."
The headline:Massive Cover-up operation in vaccines confirmed: Secret Documents prove that vaccines caused autism
This is kind of stuff they hold onto. (Original article is in German).
I find sharing these conspiracy theories not only socially irresponsible and dangerous but also extremly selfish …and frustrating.
All anyone has to do is search on google for “proof vaccines don’t cause autism” and they’d be overwhelmed with good solid data from the leading science authorities. People who don’t believe in this data just don’t want to believe it and have bought into the false info / consipiracy theories…
I think, from dealing with it first hand for a lot of years, that most conspiracy theories rise from two things, the first being a misguided anger and frustration for the current system that has its issues and the second being some delusional thinking.
From what I can see from what surrounds me, the same that go for the anti-vaccine movement go for the flat earth thing or other, you name it. Everyone can pull up charts and compare them, it’s their base of operation. Autism rises, it must be the gmos, or the vaccines, when in fact 50 years ago people would hide their disabled kids at home in fear of the “crazy” persecution.
I don’t eat gmos, but that’s a health concern I think it’s just a big experiment still, but I would never not vaccinate my kids.
