Here I come with my voices and wonder… Does this count as psychosis? I only have voices and they are kind.
Maybe some paranoia but I don’t think so. I think my suspicions that i got a virus and some dude has hacked my computer and may have been spying on me is valid. Especially considering i saw the recording light turn on and my screen made a flashing glitchy image as if it took a screenshot. Am trying to reinstall my computer. Hopefully that’ll solve that problem.
Hallucinations are considered a feature of psychosis. I have good voices as well.
Paranoia is a feature of psychosis. I had paranoia similar to yours where I thought people were spying on me through cameras so I blocked my computer camera and phone camera and whatnot.
If you are concerned you should see a professional, none of us can diagnose you
Technically, yes. Psychosis generally involves a break with reality and hallucinations can be a prominent fixture in this happening. In my case my hallucinations are regarded as part of my psychosis. I am just lucky I am able to maintain insight into it and not have it overrun me.
That’s nice.. I really like my voices most of the time. They want me to do well and push myself. Are yours like that too?
Thanks! I don’t think that I’m psychotic just now. Though I’m not entirely certain. This feels nothing like when I was psychotic. But I am in contact with doctors and mental health professionals. They know about the voices and I would contact them if things changed.
Having insight is a very good thing especially with this illness. I’m glad for you. You seem to have been doing better than most.
Some of my positive voices have gotten me through the most difficult periods of my life. They were like advisors/guides even therapists sometimes. Very kind and supportive.
I have some voices that have always been good to me, some that started out good and became bad, and ones that started out bad but became good. The whole range lol.
I heard voices for years in remission. Sorry, I don’t really understand the question. Do you have schizophrenia and wonder if voices mean you’re psychotic, or do you just hear voices and are wondering if that’s psychosis? There is a percentage of the population that hear voices without any type of psychosis. They have groups and stuff to discuss it and connect with other voice hearers.
@Anna That’s a bit different from my situation. Thanks for sharing. I’ve been curious for a while now if others have experienced the same thing i did.
@TheSecondVariety
You answered my question, thank you. I’m diagnosed with sza currently and wondered if just hearing voices counts as psychosis or if you have to have delusions or paranoia too. That’s really interesting about those who hear voices without psychosis. Are their voices usually kind/normal, do you know?
I don’t remember what their voices were like. I remember it was a type of documentary video. I still symptoms to a degree even medicated. It’s gotten a little better over the years though.
