I just stumbled upon something that has helped me greatly, it;s called alpha-lipoic-acid. I’ve taken it a few times and I feel REALLY good on it, like I’m high or something.(it’s not a drug or anything). It is a powerful andi-oxidant and APs produce alot of free-radicals so my best guess is that the ALA got rid of the free radicals! Free radicals are responsible for premature aging and wreak-havoc every where it in the body, so taking it on a regular basis would probably produce some serious health benefits.
For anyone interested in learning more about this supplement, it appears to be safe, with no notable negative side effects, and primarily is used to help treat diabetes. There don’t appear to be any studies about it helping with schizophrenia. For further reading:
I am not sure whether is is helping my schizophrenia but it may well be getting rid of the side effects. Taking APs for so many years has probably effected my blood sugar and ALA may have helped with that. I have noticed that my complexion has been ghostly pale for the last year or so but after taking ALA the color started to come back into my face! I feel so much better when I take ALA it must be correcting something pretty severe!
Like I assume with you I also found that ala had some positive effects on my “negative symptoms” when I first took it. I believe the “high” feeling you are describing has to do with glucose metabolism in the brain (because taking it with sugar exacerbates this feeling)
Hmmm glucose metabolism in the brain sounds kind of scary, is it safe?
Sure. It’s a nutrient. Diabetics use it because it improves their glucose tolerance.
