Going out this afternoon with a very old digital camera to take a tonne of shots of one building and create a stitched panorama. It’s in walking distance. Cost: Free!

Great move. Distraction in the service of dodging excitotoxicity (see Excitotoxicity - Wikipedia) is always functional.
If you like to read, however, one can usually buy a copy of Alcoholics Anonymous on amazon.com for less than $5.00. Read it cover to cover, and one’s ability to drink “comfortably” gets pretty much wrecked forever.
(31 years sober in AA after doing a lot of long-term brain damage.)

Its unfortunate but when im drinking or medicated with weed is the only time that the mental intrusion is bearable.
I mean that I actually get that “normal” feeling back like before I lost my mind.
I wouldn’t advise it for anybody though I guess some of us are isolated cases.
