Akathisia is a killer

I have had enough of it. It’s horrible, and I am not tolerating the Latuda

They gave me Propranolol but I have nothing wrong with my heart

Yeah I get it once a week for a few hours and that’s more than I like. I had it really bad on Aripiprazole.

I guess I had it, they put me on cogentin. I remember having problems with my legs when I was trying to go to sleep, weird sensations and having to move them. But I don’t remember discussing it with anyone or getting this med for it. But they insist I need it. I don’t like it. I’ve asked to go off it a bunch but they always tell me no, the nerve.

for that one the only thing that helped me was lorazapam and eventually it stopped working too. if it were me I would try Vistaril if I had to go back on Latuda… Also the medicine is supposed to be Titrated, taking 80 MG off the bat instead of gradually coming up from the lower 40 MG can make the akathisia way worse.

also something you can take until you see your doctor, I used to buy the big old family dollar bottle of benedryl and it would help me feel better as the medicine is an anticholergenic

I had terrible akathisia on Abilify. It lowered my quality of life severely. I don’t have it anymore on Caplyta.

I had akathisia on the first ap i took,
amisulpride, and doc gave me akineton,
and it went away

i had severe akathisia when i first got aps

i am finally on propanol and has helped a little but i need to watch it cause it drops my blood pressure

I went back on Zyprexa because I thought, hunger is not as bad as restlessness and paranoid delusions. But it’s a type of zyprexa that has a drug to reduce the hunger and I’ve had no problems.

I don’t even know what that is. I take Latuda and Geodon. Don’t think I have that.

I used to take Inderall for migraines. My wife takes it for tremors.

I tried cogentin. What an awful drug. Felt like fibreglass. And bad dry mouth

Propranolol is not just for the heart. It has several uses. One of which is a treatment for akathisia. @Joker

I was just worried that it might affect the heart. My dose is only 30mg, but I have only been taking 10mg

The Akathisia I’d say is only really bad maybe twice a week, but mild the rest of the time

Latuda caused so much akathisia for me as well. That’s why I switched out of that. I like the current med I’m on.

I get akathisia on mirtazapine and a little on haloperidol but not unbearable like it used to be on quetiapine!

Ask if you can try benztropine (Cogentin). It helps me a lot. I take 2 mg at night and 1 mg in the morning

My pdocs have always given me procyclidine for akathisia

I take Cogentin for akathisia. Have you tried that one? It works well for me.

Woa!!! How can you stand the dry mouth?
I only take 1 mg of Cogentin a day and I get such dry mouth I almost can’t stand it.

@SkinnyMe , I had really bad dry mouth for a while but over time it got much better
