Recently when I went to bed, I usually turned on the air-conditioner, but when I got up in the morning I turned it off and started to use my fan. I think a good night of sleep in summer is the most important thing so I need the air-conditioning.
Leaving the air-contioning on all day long is too luxurious for me. Also I like to give the machine a break every now and then.
I’m from Texas, and I’m used to living with the air conditioning on year round. I still leave it on way too often even though it snows up here. We keep it at 70, winter or summer.
No homes in the UK have air conditioning as standard like some parts of the US unless you have lots of money.
Might change soon as our climate is all over the place. It has barely rained in England for a few weeks now and its been really hot for that whole time. Unusual. I guess this may be an effect of climate change. May was the hottest month ever recorded here.
Yep, I’ve got the air conditioner off and a fan on blowing fresh air inside from outside right now. If it gets too warm, I turn on my portable fan that has a 14" fan blade in the living room.
It was put in by maintenance and I’m paying for it. It has to be taken out, to use a fan. It might still get hot, rest of summer. It’s in the bedroom. Shouldn’t have bought it.
Sorry to hear that. Right now I have fresh air being pumped into the kitchen via the kitchen window, and the air conditioner in the bedroom.
In the winter time, I put the fan in the bedroom window after taking out the air conditioner, which takes about 10 minutes. Next to the bed I have a temperature sensor/relay that switches the fan off after the bedroom temperature reaches my selected temp. So the fan goes on and off and on and off, maintaining the temperature that I desire. That way I don’t freeze to death, but I still get some fresh air.
I leave mine on the energy saver mode so it turns on and off on its own. I keep it at 67°/19.5°. I just have window units. I turn the living room on during the day, off at night. Opposite in the bedroom. Off during the day, on at night.
