Afraid of falling down and breaking bones

First my brother fell while he was drunk and broke his ankle in 3 places…then my mom fell and broke her wrist in 3 places just about two weeks ago…so afraid of falling down now and I am super careful…I’ve never broke a bone in my life…so I’m terrified…

I survived till 45 till my first break. Broke the end of my right index finger doing slips catching practice at cricket. I hadn’t done training for two years and broke my first finger! Since then I’ve done the same injury on another finger so two broken bones.

Don’t stress. Stuff happens but as you get older make sure you are getting enough calcium in your diet. I’m not a big milk drinker and never have been but some things are worth doing!

Even if you fall, what’s the worst that can happen? Sure, it’ll hurt, but pain never killed anybody.

I’ve fallen so much in the last year it’s ridiculous but nothing but bumps and bruises.

People do die from falls. For seniors it’s a leading cause of injury and many older people die from falls worldwide.

For seniors who live by themselves, they can fall and hurt themselves so bad that they can’t get to a phone for help. They can lie on the floor for days before someone finds them. They can die if no one discovers them. If you fall you can hit your head and injure yourself severely.

Lots of the elderly are frail and in bad health, if they fall the wrong way they may not die but they can injure themselves severely and permanently.

I’ve broken my wrist when I was 5, ribs when I was 10, foot in my thirties, and same foot in 3 different places- 11 months in s cast/boot.

Guess It could have been worse…?

Yes but the poster was afraid he himself would fall, and he’s not elderly.

I broke my arm when I was about 9. Somebody pushed me off some playground equipment at school. It was a friend. He died of cancer at about 29 in about 2000. Still miss that guy. His only daughter is a model now. And then his ex wife died of cancer about 5 years ago. So now his daughter has no parents Just grandparents.

I broke my jaw in a car accident when I was 16 and had my mouth wired shut for 6 weeks. Couldn’t eat. That was fun.

And I have had broken a toe. They don’t do anything for that though. Just tape it to the next one for a few days. That was my wife pushing me out of bed

Hiya!

So I understand this. I fell last time while I was trying to do something.

If you are otherwise healthy, you may break bones but you will live. But when you fall, call the hospital if you are in so much pain. Ambulance can help when you are having an acute injury. If not, have someone drive you.

I fell while having seizures and I used to injure myself a lot because I banged my body on whatever was around me while having a seizure. Injuries can be horrible but if you have the right resources you will be just fine.

some broken place likely to turn gangrene.so you must be really careful
