Afraid of ativan withdrawal

My new pdoc didn’t refill the ativan prescription. I’m scared of withdrawal. I’ve been on ativan for about two years or a little more. Can anyone tell me what to expect?

It depends on the person. The withdrawals can be mild or severe. For me benzo withdrawal was severe and I had to taper off them. Can you ask your doctor to taper you off them instead. Quitting cold turkey probably isn’t going to be pleasant.

I had catatonia-like symptoms when I quit the morning dose of Ativan. now I take one every night before sleep.

Twitching itchiness and tingling sensations.

I am guessing it would depend on how much you are on as to your withdrawal. I was on a lot at the time. I didn’t go too long without it. I was on 3mg a day.

Can you refill it soon or if you are wanting to stop it at any point in the future the way I did was by switching over to diazepam and being able to come off more slowlly

Cold turkey is not fun.

Do you have any left? Ween yourself off of it if you can

For me I get an upswing in anxiety when I’ve been using it regularly and the stop cold turkey. It isn’t pleasant at all. I hope your symptoms are mild honey.

What dosage are you on? My psychiatrist prescribed me ativan saying that it was not addictive but I took it a little too long and became hopelessly addicted, I have been trying to wean off of it but I have to do it very slowly or it won’t work.

Why don’t you call and request a refill? Explain the situation.

@everhopeful does L Theanine help with benzo withdrawal?

Not really. Once you’ve gone though withdrawal it’s a good substitute. But it doesn’t seem to help with withdrawal. At least that’s my experience.

Since not having ativan for over 24 hrs I’m more anxious and Aaron is being particularly a dick. He’s telling me not to trust people and makes me question every thing I do. I’m worried about appearing as a drug seeker or something

I thought the same thing when this happened to me. I take Xanax and my main withdrawal sx was tinnitus. But I thought it was a vocal hallucination, it was music I was hearing in addition to buzzing and ringing. Turns out it was withdrawal. I finally called the nurse to get a script and explained. My pdoc said he would have given me the script as soon as possible rather than suffer without.

I also know I looked like a drug seeker because I went to the urgent care for the ringing. Turns out part of the tinnitus was water in my ears backed up from my sinuses.

I called the nurse, she gave me a number to reach them directly but no calls yet. I told the voicemail about Aaron.
