Advice/thoughts/ideas?

i developed TD after prolonged use of anti psychotics. luckily for me, the physical symptoms went away (tremors, shaking etc) and it’s only manifested to my face; OD (Orofacial Dyskensia)

has anyone ever had it, gotten rid of it ?

I suffer from the ocassional bouts of mania, well, more so than ocassional. I do enjoy it, but it’s not truly the way to live a life.

i don’t believe i am SZ, but Bipolar with bouts of mania. i read that Lithium can help control manic symptoms.

thank you for reading and any help is appreciated.

I think @Happy_H takes meds for TD. Maybe she can help.

This is ALL I know on this, it may help, IDK, clozapine has very very low chances of giving any movement issues.
but it is a last resort med, so beware

also, I am not a fan of switching meds unless absolutely necessary

How long were you on antipsychotics, which one and what dosage? Do you have akathisia? I had akathisia with anything over 80mg of Latuda. I am also scared of getting TD or akathisia from APs.

7 years ?

ever since I quit cigarettes my mania has increased, if I get up to do something it feels like I’m running on 20 cups of coffee.

i spend most of my time in bed so my mind doesnt race as much.

I also had eye tremors with any dose of Risperdal.

The two main meds for treating TD are Ingrezza and Austedo. Ingrezza is specific to TD while Austedo was developed for another movement disorder and discovered to work for TD. I have tried both and find that Austedo works for me. The kicker is getting insurance to cover either. They are both very expensive. I take 24 mg Austedo 2x/day, and it runs about $13k/month. I don’t know how much Ingrezza is.

I’ve heard that too. The best thing is to make the best out of it. Treat yourself right. If you are ambitious begin a project, but take care that you don’t overwhelm yourself. Take it easy, but take it.

hey @Happy_H,

dopamine antagonists really screwed my life. this is a pro med forum so I wont bash neuroleptics because they are vital in medicine.

i just dont believe in the whole dopamine theory, i think its B.S.
