Nice haul! I only recognized the Isley Bros and O’Jays – the All in the Family record seems interesting too

Thanks @Tulane! :dizzy:

Haha yea same! Most of those were blind buys but I think I got lucky with them :musical_notes::+1:.

The All In The Family record I’m hoping will have some good quotes I can sprinkle in somewhere— it’s a classic show for sure :+1:.

How’s the CD collection going? Have you made it out to the Goodwill? (Think you said you might hit them up at some point!) :+1:

It’s going well! Still kinda going through all my old CDs, figuring out which ones I wanna keep.

Need to still bop on down to Goodwill lol But I did just discover there’s a place on my side of the city called the “Bluegrass Music Shop”. They have all kinds of bluegrass (obvi) CDs and records, old and new stuff. I would honestly feel a little outta place there, cuz I’m so new to bluegrass lol but it seems like a cool spot!

Nice! Sounds like a plan :+1:

Whoa, that’s awesome you guys have a spot in your city just for Bluegrass! :banjo:

Defos hear you about possibly feeling a little out of place there though— that’s how I feel about going to my local record shop. But, that bluegrass store does sound pretty promising— keep us updated if/when you decide to venture in :+1:.

I am hoping that now that it’s the summer, my local record store won’t be swarming with all the college students haha, and it might be a little more lowkey if/when I decide to go… We’ll see! :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, same here with the record stores – they’re all on the big campus in the city, or around there. I get anxious going up that way lol :grimacing:

I’m in the process of ordering a few CDs from Barnes and Noble, though! I’ll post a picture here when I get them

@Tulane and @Schztuna I also collect CDs, and the odd record at times. I recently got 3 6 Mafia’s first album on CD for collecting sake. I don’t particularly like it as much as their more later stuff but it’s decent. It’s got some kinda cool horror movie samples on some of the songs.

I’m kinda debating on buying Brotha Lynch Hung’s first album on vinyl. I really want it on CD but it’s only available on limited edition vinyl on Amazon.

Ohhh snap, 3 6 is great @Montezuma! :+1:. Their Most Known Unknown Album is pretty good.

Haha, that sounds pretty cool— defos right up your alley  :+1:

Ohh that’s a tough call! Does he have like a merch site or anything you might be able to pick up his CD from? You probably already checked, but maybe eBay could be lucky for you…? Sometimes those independent sellers on Amazon charge an arm and a leg for vinyl, sheesh! I hope you can find it in the format of your choice (and for a good price too!) :+1:

ooo the windmills of your mind one is fire! its funny i was thinking of sampling that song a few weeks back. Thats my favourite movie of all time! The thomas crown affair.

happy tune making! btw if you want to use that chopped up loop you got in your song, “slicex” is your go to plugin. if you press “F8” on your keyboard in FL, then type in “slicex” youll find it there. you can drag and drop a sample into there and it will automatically slice it up. and then you can play it on your keyboard while recording.

in the menu in slicex you can also choose between, sharp, medium, and dull slicing which just makes less or more chops in the loop. can also adjust the little tab things

if you dont want to record it live you can also go into the piano roll and manually click the notes in and each note (similar to your keyboard) will play a different chop of the sample you made.

lemme know if you have any questions

Haha no ways! You should defos sample it! Only listened to like 3 secs of the song before buying the album but it was pretty good, so I had to get it lol :+1:.

Thanks @anon4126574! Just realized the FL free trial is up today, so I gotta get serious about thinking about purchasing it :grimacing::money_with_wings:.

Whoa! I will absolutely try your method— I had been using Edison to do things but couldn’t figure out how to record on the main track thingie while I’m playing around in the Edison interface… Dude, have you ever considered making like, YouTube tutorials for FL? I think you’d be awesome at it! :+1:

Also, how’s your back healing up? Hopefully you’re feeling better! :+1: And how’s the job search coming along? Hope you find something that pays good and is something you enjoy! :+1:

Thanks dude! :+1:

oh wow, yea well thats only for some of the features. The actual program you can use indefinately. The only trial features that end with that short term trial is the new stupid features they added recently like a splice.com type sample library, the automatic track mastering option and some other things. I’ve been using FL for free for like 10 years lmao All the standard trial features (which is basically everything) are free forever, it even says on their website:

the only thing is you cant save songs after the trial which is a bit of a bummer but virtually all the songs ive made is on the demo. Careful of crashing tho because it can be a big loss, but even then you can export stems at intervals and drag them on your desktop incase it crashes and just drag them back into a new project.

thanks so much, i dont think i know enough to make fl tutorials tho :stuck_out_tongue:

My back is feeling much better btw its literally a miracle im so happy! i went jogging for the first time in forever a day or two ago.

I started working today again too, which im really happy about  doing construction and praying my back holds up :joy:

and yea edison is more of an audio recorder. it has some other features but if your trying to sample something Slicex is the move. To send that you have in edison to the playlist tho you can hit this button. whatever you have selected in red will be sent to the main playlist

Oh cool! Yea, it gave me some message about not being able to open saved projects or something so I was like oh no, lol. No biggie though! Also, LOL to using the free version for 10 years! That’s what’s up! :money_mouth_face:. Eventually, think I will buy FL, but for right now this is fine :+1:.

Hey this is awesome news @anon4126574! Really happy to hear you’re on the mend and working and jogging and stuff! :+1: I hope you continue to heal well and all the good stuff keeps coming your way dude :+1:

Ohhh I see, thanks! :+1: Gonna try to check out the Slicex thingie here soon, and I appreciate that screen shot just in case also! :+1:

I spotted some decent looking vinyl nearby, 3 places, ones a cafe that plays records and sells them (expensive) another is 2 charity shops, i looked in one of them and it was mediocre but the other shop looks pretty good, i was only able to glance as i walked in and the girl was like ‘we’re closing soon’ so i walked back out but I’m going in again soon.

My pal @el_Jimbobbio is thinking about getting a record player.
I have some records i can share with him.

Nice, that last shop sounds promising overall! Keep us posted if/when you find the time to go back :+1:

At the charity shop, just a kind word of advice would be to check the record to make sure it matches the sleeve and is in good condition, although you probs knew to do that anyway! (I just say this because I’ve had several duds at the charity shop, but your mileage may vary :+1:)

Oh awesome :star_struck:! Sounds great, and that’s cool of you to share records with him :musical_notes: :+1:
