ADHD assessments

Do you know the waiting lists are extremely long. I am going through RTC so will only have to wait a couple of months for an assessment. Initially I thought I don’t want medication, but then I want to keep my options open. I’d love to read a book.,

I know several people whose cognitive abilities were improved a lot after starting on medication for it.

@firemonkey I saw you post something about it … if you go for an assessment, I highly recommend going via rtc too… It is way quicker but it’s only available if you are in England. I can send you more details what provider I chose and how it works if interested.

Thank you very much for your kind offer of help. 20-30 years ago I would have pursued this matter, but as a 67 year old pensioner I see little point in doing so. I’ve been subjected to a lot of criticism over the years by mental health services ( not since moving in 2017 though) for not living up to expectations/that which was demanded of me. I may or may not have ADD, but I do know that I have had quite severe EF difficulties for which I’ve had no help and support. They’ve had a pronounced bad effect on my ability to function. EF difficulties can occur whatever a person’s IQ is.

A quote from a member of FB’s high IQ community:

I feel the same way as you and also find that I can problem solve better than I can do remedial chores. It’s disheartening as I have a tested IQ of 181 but can’t get my ■■■■ together to put it to use because my Executive Function is broken.

He’s way more intelligent than I am.
