@anon8411913 Where do you live if you dont mind me asking?
U said u thought u would be a bad mom “because of my SZ”…
Well because probably I have it,
Even though I am not sure for 100%
Lithuania
small country
You shouldnt tell us u have it if u havent been diagnosed …be honest…u can’t self diagnose
Who said I am self diagnosed?
I simply had psychosis in teenage years, and had many different diagnoses, but officially nobody wanted to give me diagnosis because I was a teenager.
Now my doctor knows that I had psychotic experiences but is not sure whether it should be called SZ, or only it was long psychosis.
U said u are not diagnosed with schizophrenia but also said u were in ur post…thats all im pointing out. U shoulda said psychosis if ur diagnosed with psychosis. Or psychosis and BPD like u said before. Thats all im saying. Dont say ur SZ id ur not actually diagnosed with SZ or SZA
We accept those who’ve experienced psychosis so be nice. Diagnosis often changes with time so let’s be civil and supportive peeps.
Idc if she says she has psychosis but to say she has sz when shes never been diagnosed with it bugs me
Be nice. We have many members who aren’t sz- it’s not a big deal so stop the sabre rattling and move on or sit out the night.
I don’t want to explain anything again.
I can say only one thing, that my doctor till this day is not sure, because it’s stil unknown whether it was drug induced, or simply lifelong thing what I have. Maybe my EN is actually bad, and I cannot explain the whole situation well,
But in fact, you shouldn’t care what my diagnosis is.
I know its not a big deal but a lot of the time these days people self diagnose or say they have sz when they havent been diagnosed with it, and it makes it harder for those of us who actually do most the time, so i call it out when i see it. Just be honest about ur diagnosis is all immsaying.
They are under care of a psydoc- that is enough and honestly things change for most over time - no more today simple.
Thats what I wanted to say… doctors opinions about my illness changed a lot.
I went from psychotic disorder NOS to disorganized schizophrenia to paranoid schizophrenia.
I’m lobbying for front-loaded trouser syndrome as my next DX.

My ex wife had two kids. It was okay until i became psychotic. While actively in and out of the hospital, psychotic and in and out of jobs i also took care of her, her kids, 3 dogs, did all the house work, cooking, etc. It broke my brain even further.
I had homicidal ideation, the hospital called child protective services but it was an open and shut case and got me out of that toxic marriage.
So no kids for me, luckily my bf does not want kids either. Just pets for us.
If I ever had kids I would be afraid that they would do the things my friends and I did when we were little. I’m too old to have kids, so I don’t have to worry about it.
You will. Many parents do. Lack of sleep causes psychotic symptoms in every human on earth, and parenting causes lack of sleep. It is worse for us, but it all depends on the individual. Having a stable partner can make a huge difference.
I adopted a child through foster care. I had to submit a letter from my psychiatrist on my evaluation to foster, and another one when we legally adopted our kid. I think we would have been excluded from private adoption, because the birth parents can be more selective there, but we were approved for foster care adoption. We preferred foster care adoption because we didn’t want to give tens of thousands of dollars to a business that is essentially a middleman. Foster care adoption is free. They actually pay us. It all goes into Starlet’s college fund, which is helpful since we adopted him at age 15.
I think the fact that you are worrying about such things means you will be a good parent.
As for bringing a child into the world that might get sz, in my personal opinion, it would be a positive thing. Hardship (and sz is hard) is part of life and doesn’t mean that they won’t do wonderful things.
Here in Spain people with schizophrenia can’t adopt.
