Why are you switching to Latuda if Invega was good though?
Because even at the highest dose of invega I was still (am still) having āhallucinationsā and ādelusionsā
It did work well for a period but my psychiatrist thinks I either built up a tolerance to it, or I might be treatment resistant. So now Iām on a rollercoaster of trying every other AP possible.
So far Iāve tries Saphris (awful), Zyprexa (also awful), and Abilfy (as you know, awful). Now Iām on to Latuda which is fairly new here in Australia.
It is difficult for me to switch from my morning Invega which I really quite liked, to evening Latuda, which I have no opinion of yet.
I wish you luck with negotiating a new AP. Abilify made me so agitated and antsy, and I would just wake up and be fully awake at two in the morning.
Yes that is exactly what Iām dealing with. I will bring this up with my pdoc.
Good luck @Anna
I donāt want to change from Invega.
I had a really bad day anxiety wise because of abilify. I think l-theanine isnāt working as well as it was. I could be in trouble as I quit benzos which helped me tolerate abilify and so was relying on l-theanine . I actually hate abilify but itās keeping me stable, so Iām stuck. Iāve tried other APs.
add zyprexa to the abilify
Same, I also had a bad day because of Abilify. Was so hyped up I accomplished about half the work I needed to, and spent the rest of the time incredibly uncomfortable and antsy. I also need benzos to tolerate it but lately Iāve been grinning and bearing it through the symptoms because I want to save the benzo for night time. My pdoc said it was fine for me to take 2 a day but I donāt want to become addictedā¦
I donāt know if you mentioned it, but what dose of Abilify are you on, @Anna? Anything below 10mg made me feel EXACTLY the way you describe. My pdoc upped it to 10mg and I immediately settled down and felt itās calming effects. Thatās the way itās engineered to effect people. Anything below 10mg is made to supplement depression. 10mg and over is for psychosis. Sounds funny, but Iāve read this over and over and experienced it twice now.
I have depression with psychotic features so I believe she is hoping to supplement the Zoloft with something that would also manage my psychotic symptoms. (Iām on 5 mg) But itās just not working out for me.
She prescribed me the 5 mg for a month but if she thinks I can go a month without sleep she is sadly mistaken. My psychosis flares up something fierce with just a few days of bad sleep. I may get too paranoid to keep taking my meds like I did my last episode. Itās just dangerous.
I feel you! But just remember, thereās only serotonin receptor stimulation at 5mg of Abilify, itās essentially an AD, at that dose. That coupled with the Zoloft is likely just too much. I hope you go to 10mg and feel relief, or find a med that is more soothing. Weāre pulling for you!!
I would never ever again touch this Abilify stuff. It didnāt work for me at all. Actually made me much more psychotic.
And for some complicated reasons, abilify may work great as the first med (for antipsychotic-naive people) but it pretty much for complicated neurotransmitter technical gobbledegook may screw people who were stable or on high dose of ANY other non āthird-generation antipsychoticsā (Abilify being the only third generation antipsychotic).
Basically if you switch from 30mg zyprexa to Abilify, you may go completely bonkers. While you would not if you started Abilify when you got sick. Regardless of the Zyprexa helping you or not. Because ability partially STIMULATES the D2 Dopamine receptors, while the others are pure antagonists⦠read the papers.
But generally Abilify might be useless unless you take it as the first med as far as I understand.
You can read this stuff up. Aint telling you BS.
