Abilify/Aripiprazole on alternate days

Can one take Abilify every other day? for instance, 10mg every second day instead of 5mg every day?

I’ve been taking Abilify 5mg for about 5 years. I get depressed on it but its still better for than other meds. When I take 10mg I feel better that day, and also feel ok the medication free day.

Best wishes

Don’t know. But I take an AD next to an AP. If I take just an AP I get suicidal.

I actually tried that, and it didn’t work out for me. If you feel better on 10mg, then maybe that’s a better dose for you and maybe you should be on it full time.

Welcome to the forum! We can’t say because we’re not psychiatrists. It’s a good question for your dr

Thank you already for your quick answers.
I always wanted the least amount of APs. Never thought that doubling the dosage could be a better idea. Maybe Abilify has different effects on 10mg than on 5mg. Perhaps it has to do with the efficacy threshold (what I want to say is that effectiveness probably needs a certain amount of miligrams.

The minimum dose of Abilify for schizophrenia is actually 10mg anyway.

I tried lower than 10mg to see if I could get away with it, and it gave me suicidal ideation! 10mg, and no suicidal ideation.

I’m on 15mg now.

Im on 30 starting today

You are one of the few rare cases that didn’t relapse

My Dr. Started me out on 5mg but I was having symptoms with the dose that low. My symptoms didn’t completely go away until my dose was upped to 15mg.

It didnt work out. On medfree days I got increased anxiety. Dont want that to experience this regularly. Well, at least I tried.
