A tradition to take candles to graveyards on Christmas Eve

We have this tradition. Do you have it? In this way we remember those who have passed away. It is dark and I have no car and so I won’t take any candles, but I did light one candle to remember those who are in their graves.

My Christmas celebration is quite mild. I rode my bicycle and I made one person delighted. She had her birthday yesterday and I asked how old she is. She said her age, but I said that I could not believe her because she seemed so young, in her 40s. She said 62, but she looked so young and she was delighted. I talk with her regularly.

As I look at this candle, I remember especially my father who passed away in January 2018, so five years ago. I lived with him until he had to go to the elderly care facility. So many people have passed away, but we need to live with those who are still above the ground.

How is your Christmas going?

I visit my grandmother’s grave occasionally. I don’t even remember where my mother is buried and that suits me fine.
