I only believe in false paradises, at most in Nozick’ Experience Machine. Our extremely low expectations of personal growth and narrow range of experiences preclude, at least for me, any high regard for personal development. Our lives remain too short and brutish for any of that.
Not if you believe in reincarnation, or especially that of the concept of Samsara.
Speak for yourself. I have learnt so much from my suffering in life, of which I probably couldn’t have from a life of pleasure and good fortune.
Reading up on this interesting machine, it reminds of the movie ‘Vanilla Sky’ with Tom Cruise in it. He makes the choice to unplug from this machine without his wealth rather than live the ‘dream’ even when he is God in it.
You are not in paradise whether it be false or true.
I do visit paradise on occasion.
