Anybody else have a problem if they hear a song that day on a commercial or on the radio that it sticks in your head all day and all night, even when your trying to sleep?
It will play on repeat in my head even worse when I try to go to bed. I will be laying down and the song is on a constant repeat in my head, and won’t stop until I get tired or close to falling asleep.
Before I began taking the antipsychotic, I used to have this problem. It was very bad!
For example, If I listened to a music album, afterward the whole album used to play in my head with the songs in the right order! I’m not kidding. And at the end of the album, it would start again from the first song. And it was non stop, sometimes for an entire week! It was really painful, I couldn’t stand it! I wished it to stop!
I used to try listening to other songs to try to make it stop.
I have never know what this problem is.
Do you think it is some kind of hallucination? Where do this problem comes from? Is it related to any mental illness?
I’m not for sure where it comes from or if it is an hallucination or related to anything, but I had the same problem you had, just with a song I would sing a verse or chourus over and over again.
Don’t get me wrong if I wanted to sing the whole album in my head from start to finish I could of done the same thing you did, but I focused more on verses and chourus’s
Anyway, in my case, the problem disappeared when I started taking the antipsychotic and now I can listen to music as much as I want and I never have this problem again.
It feels like the brain compulsively wanted to be euphoric again and again. If a song used to make me euphoric, my brain would play it compulsively to continue to be euphoric. I used to be quite compulsive.
I don’t know if it makes sense.
It’s normal to have a song in your head. But to have a whole album during an entire week non stop is not normal I think.
I always get pieces of songs or a refrain of a song stuck in my head and it can go on for days and weeks. Usually it is a song I am practicing on piano. It’s not hallucination. It’s my own thoughts.
Hi @MorePreciousThanFineGold. Typically, we like to leave inactive threads alone and just start a new thread instead. This is different than how some forums are run, but we do it this way because it frequently upsets users to have old topics revived when they are no longer relevant. It can also be frustrating to the person who revived the thread when they don’t get a reply, because the original poster is no longer active or no longer finds the topic relevant. Feel free to start a new thread on this topic.
