Constant music in my head? is this like voices?

When I’m going to sleep I get music in my head keeping me from going straight to sleep…it happens every night…some tunes I don’t recognize like it’s just a phrase of melody that I keep having in my head. I don’t have voices but wondered about the music.

Do you hear it externally like your listening to actual music?
Or is it like thoughts (internal)?

it’s internal…little melodies that make no sense but that repeat over and over…I wonder if I am under too much stress lately. Really hard to go to sleep thank God I take trazadone…

I have constant music as well, but it’s always songs I know.
Sometimes it’s songs I haven’t heard since childhood

Yeah it could be from stress @jukebox.

I hear music a lot too. I have schizoaffective disorder, so the type of music I hear usually depends on how manic/depressed I am on a given day.

When I worked 24 hours a day I was listing to music all day because I was a bartender. At night I use to close the music but the internal voices start singing and not just phrases but entire songs 3-4minutes. I was under a lot of stress to

The hallucination I had during my first psychotic break was hearing music that wasn’t there, but this was external, like there really was music playing, so I guess a bit different. The music I heard sounded downright evil, that’s the best way to describe it. I’m a metal head, so for me to say music sounded evil and scary is really saying something.

i had this soooo bad until i had my meds up to 15 mg. then it quieted down, but before that i heard it constantly and the only way to stop it was to play other music over it. it was so aggravating and annoying.

I get music stuck in my head for hours at a time sometimes with full music quality if I know the song well enough. It’s irritating as hell. One time, “This is Halloween” played in my head for over an hour straight. I was ready to bash my head on something. It just wouldn’t stop, even when I tried to think of literally anything else or it would just play over my thoughts.

These are audible hallucinations. I would go to see your pdoc about these hallucinations. You might need a tweak in your meds.
I often get musical hallucinations of strains of music too. These are part of sz/sza.

That’s your creativity bubbling to the surface. That’s wonderful, and it’s actually a healthy thing! Maybe you should be writing down the better bits and composing some tunes?

@jukebox, They could be your creativity bubbling to the surface. @shutterbug is right. If any of the musical strains make sense to you, and you can hear definite melodies that sound like they have potential to be written down and made into music, then by all means, write them down and compose them into songs.

I hear hallucinatory musical strains over and over too sometimes. But, they do not make sense to me and are not good potential for possible compositions. My musical hallucinations sound like an orchestra tuning their instruments.

I do however occasionally compose music and I get my inspiration for music from my night time dreams. I hear music in my dreams and I remember it when I wake up in the morning. Then, I write it down. Some of these I have actually recorded and promoted.
