A Poem: Valentines Day

The day of love and candy
the day that is quite fine and dandy
You could write a poem or an essay
or even make a survey
about this Valentines Day

The day where people dress nice
and chocolate will suffice
to show their love on this day
this day that is like a dove

I am the sweet of the air I pass at the bakery
I don’t stop
I’d walk a million miles for you Phil
and give you no roll or cookie
just my heart

well I wanted to write something

sometimes you put something down

and it seems so permanent

when everything else is fleeing

maybe why we do it

less than one minute poem

if it doesn’t come easily, it was never there

Or it’s not ready to be born yet.

Some of my best poetry would wander around, peek in and out of corners in my mind for days or weeks. But when it was ready to come out, it was always a matter of just minutes. Trying to write it before then killed it.

yeah, I get it

sometimes mundane tasks you start getting oh wow moments

people don’t think it takes work, it does

brief encounters

flowers in her hair
there’s no-one there
stuck in a free fall and
i haven’t got a prayer

and from the corner of my eye haunts
empty promises
wasted opportunities
in lack lustred excitement

our eyes meet and nerves touch
i look away
too ashamed to meet her gaze
for what am i?
but a lowly schizo

alas there was no beau that day
and now the flowers have all gone

the problem was flowers in her hair

she would never make the first move

look for women in leather
